We are pleased to offer laser surgery at
our facility.  Our state-of-the-art surgical laser can provide significant benefits compared to a traditional scalpel blade in certain situations (feline declaw, some skin incisions and/or mass removals or ablations, some oral surgery, etc.).   The laser cauterizes and seals nerve endings and blood vessels, resulting in less bleeding, swelling, and discomfort.
A variety of surgical services are offered, ranging from routine spays, neuters, declaws and dental procedures to more complex abdominal, gastrointestinal, urinary tract and other soft-tissue surgeries.   In addition, select orthopedic procedures are offered as well.  While under our care, your pet will receive excellent care and various interventions to help make anesthesia as safe as possible:  preanesthetic blood testing, IV fluid therapy to maintain hydration and blood pressure, and sophisticated monitoring and nurse supervision are all standard operating procedure.

Our furry friends need regular dental care too.   When a dental cleaning becomes necessary, you will drop your pet off in the morning and pick them up that afternoon.  As a thorough and complete dental cleaning requires anesthesia, all the same precautions are taken as with surgery.  Dental cleaning involves careful and methodical removal of all tartar using a special ultrasonic hand scaler.  Your pet’s teeth, gums and periodontal tissues are closely examined for any defects or abnormalities.  Then the teeth are polished with prophy paste, followed by application of a fluoride treatment.   Your pet will leave much healthier with fresh breath and kisses when it’s time to go home.

Radiography is an important tool in diagnosing both orthopedic and soft tissue conditions such as broken bones, arthritis, lung/chest problems, abdominal/gastrointestinal problems, and bladder stones.  Radiography  is generally performed while your pet is awake, though in some situations sedation is helpful in reducing discomfort and allowing for accurate positioning during the procedure.

We offer ultrasound services to help diagnose ailments and disease processes in our patients.  Ultrasound offers a different “image” or look at certain internal strutures and organs than traditional radiography (xrays).  It can be particularly useful in evaluating organs and regions such as the spleen, liver, kidneys, urinary bladder, gall bladder, abdomen, and heart, as well as allowing us to confirm the pending arrival of puppies and kittens.

We offer complete wellness care, for young, adult, and older animals alike.  Wellness visits include a thorough “head to tail” exam, screening tests based on your pets individual needs and lifestyle, and customized vaccination protocols based on your pets individual risks.

The importance of getting off to a good start in life cannot be overstated for a puppy or kitten.   At Hazel Dell Animal Hospital, we make providing thorough and appropriate wellness care to your new little friends easier with deeply discounted packages that include multiple sequential physical exams, stool exams, dewormings, and comprehensive vaccinations.  We are here to answer all of your questions about your newest family member.

Between our in-house laboratory and the professional reference laboratory we partner with, thorough and complete blood testing can be performed for virtually any problem or scenario.   From routine preanesthetic blood testing to evaluation of complicated and/or unusual internal illness, we can obtain vital information in an efficient and timely manner, to better understand your pet’s unique condition, plan their care, and meet their needs.
